<b>Circle Spring 2020: Avanto Architects</b>

We continue with lectures even at this time, and as part of the Nordic Path, a path to responsibility, we will present the Finnish studio AVANTO in May. We are trying to adapt to the current situation, so for the first time, the lecture will be held online. Ville Hara and Anu Puustinen founded the architectural studio AVANTO Architects in 2004. "Avanto" means "hole in the ice" in Finnish and refers to the popular Finnish hobby of winter sauna bathing. "We want our architecture to be as powerful an experience as jumping into icy water," they say about themselves. They primarily work with natural and local materials, mostly wood. They use it for small structures ranging from modular sheds and cabins to public buildings and observation towers.
