We invite you to an ONLINE lecture by KRUH: REIULF RAMSTAD ARCHITECTS
When: Thursday 01/10/2020 19:30 Where: live stream on the Facebook pages of KRUH Lecture in English
This year’s lecture series Nordic Path, a path to sustainability continues after the summer break with an online lecture in October. We are very sorry that the currently deteriorating situation around the COVID-19 virus doesn’t allow us to meet with the lecturer and with you in person. Due to restrictions and recommendations, we have decided to move the October lecture to the virtual world. We hope that the online version will not deter you, that you will join us, and together we will listen to the presentation by Tjasa Mavric from the Norwegian studio Reiulf Ramstad Architects, which you can follow in the live broadcast on Thursday, October 1, 2020, from 19:30 on the Facebook pages of KRUH. One such example is the Norwegian studio Reiulf Ramstad Architects based in Oslo. This award-winning studio focuses primarily on landscape architecture. In their projects, they often use natural and biomimetic materials (biomimetics studies structural solutions in nature in living organisms, trying to imitate them and use them to develop new technical solutions), and their work is characterized by a sensitive approach to the environment. The office gained international attention in 2012 when it won a competition for the Trollstigen – a national tourist road project, which is one of the most visited places in Norway. The architects managed to sensitively integrate contemporary architecture into the dramatic Norwegian nature and enhance visitors' experience in the landscape. “As architects, we have to try to understand the DNA of a given place. It is very important to go to the places where we do projects, to get acquainted with these places and relate to them. They thus become chapters in our lives,” adds Reiulf Ramstad, the founder of the studio. Their construction of the Knarvik church with a center for the local religious community is also highly valued. The form of this building is inspired by traditional Norwegian churches and is sensitively integrated into the surrounding landscape. Similarly, the Norwegian studio RRA also approaches nature sensitively, for example in the sought-after architectural-landscape object Selvika or on the Chemin des Carrières trail in France. The online lecture by Reiulf Ramstad Architects will be broadcasted on Thursday, October 1, from 19:30 on the Facebook pages of KRUH. The event is free; however, there is an option to support this lecture and the entire association by purchasing virtual tickets, which are available for pre-sale through the GoOut network.
