The lecture by Ladislava Horňáková will highlight the significant realizations of Bohuslav Fuchs in Luhačovice as well as his activities in the Zlín region. Fuchs participated in urban studies for the developing spa town since the 1920s. Between 1927 and 1928, five guesthouses were built according to his designs in the functionalist spirit. Following Jurkovič's buildings, these were another attempt at a unified concept of spa construction and are among the highly valued monuments of interwar architecture in Czechoslovakia. Fuchs' activities for the Baťa company were also a great contribution to the entire Zlín region. After the establishment of the Regional Corps of Zlín, Bohuslav Fuchs, together with Jindřich Kumpošt, developed a regional plan for the Dřevnice Valley, which for the first time in the Czech Republic was based on multifaceted studies of the historical and contemporary state of the town and its wide surroundings. As a participant in the competition for the completion of Zlín's náměstí Práce, he approached the solution comprehensively and very radically, interconnecting the original historical square with the newly forming one. Alongside these activities, it is also important to mention Fuchs' social and educational work.
