The Architecture and Urban Planning Center (CAMP) invites you on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at 7:00 PM to another lecture from the Urban Talks series, which features famous foreign urban planners and architects. Today's guest is American urbanist and Harvard professor Toni L. Griffin. At the university, she leads the Just City Lab project, which addresses, among other things, indicators and metrics for evaluating social justice in public spaces. 99 problems of the city bring at least 99 opportunities to improve it. What would a city look like if it were planned by a car enthusiast or an avid cyclist? How to find common ground for all residents when designing a street or a square? And is it even possible? This time, the dean of the Liberec Faculty of Architecture and Art, urban planner Osamu Okamura, will be asking these questions.
Today's event is taking place only online. If you can't join today, you can also watch today's Urban Talk from the recording. You can ask questions using the slido.com app under the password #campujonline.
If you don’t have the opportunity to watch today’s stream, you can look forward to another Urban Talks with Edward Glaeser, which will take place on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at 7:00 PM. Edward Glaeser, a professor of economics at Harvard and one of the most prominent urban economists, has spent several decades defining the role of cities in human lives. His findings are summarized in the groundbreaking book Triumph of the City: How Our Greatest Invention Makes Us Richer, Smarter, Greener, Healthier, and Happier, which completely changes the perspective on cities and asserts that cities enhance people's strengths.
