MAIO architects

We invite you to a lecture and conversation with Anna Puigjaner, an architect, editor, and co-founder of the architectural office MAIO, as part of the Visiting Editors program discussing alternative models of publishing in architecture.

On Thursday, December 14, 2017, at 7:00 PM at Gallery VI PER, Prague
On Friday, December 15, 2017, at 7:00 PM at 4AM, Brno

Anna Puigjaner is an architect and editor focusing on research. With her research project Kitchenless City: Architectural Systems for Social Welfare, Anna was a finalist for the Rolex Mentor & Protégé Initiative and won last year's Wheelwright Prize, Harvard GSD 2016.

She currently teaches at the Royal College of Arts in London and at the School of Architecture ETSAB/ETSAV - UPC in Barcelona. She is a co-founder of the architectural office MAIO, which works on spatial systems that allow for a concurrent interest in both theoretical and practical positions in architecture.

She has lectured, among others, at the MET Museum, GSAPP Columbia University, Yale University, Berkeley University UCLA, FAU Lisboa, and Brussels UCL-LOCI. The work of the office MAIO has been published in international media such as Domus, A10, Monocle, Frame, and Detail; exhibited at the Venice Biennale of Architecture and in Chicago, at MoMA and the Art Institute of Chicago; and has won awards in the FAD Award 2016 for Ephemeral Interventions and FAD Award 2015 for Thought and Criticism.
Anna Puigjaner focuses in her research project on so-called Kitchenless Cities, a phenomenon of housing with collective kitchens eliminating kitchens in apartment buildings and provoking the domestication of urban space.

The public program Visiting Editors is a project of the educational platform in architecture Fake Cities True Stories in collaboration with Gallery VI PER in Prague and the cultural space PRAHA Forum for Architecture and Media in Brno.
