Trutnov

The young district of Červený kopec above northeastern Trutnov is characterized by a diverse array of family homes. Among the authors of several of these homes are Martina and Michal Rosa. Four years ago, another family house was built here, which unmistakably reflects its creators in its architectural expression. The architecture of the house for a young family features a massing solution that is simple and a timeless architectural expression working with smooth plastered surfaces in combination with large-scale glazing without further subdivision. Generous aluminum sliding and window systems Schüco connect the interior with the adjoining garden and provide the residents of the house with unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape.

The sloping terrain predetermined the shape of the house and its layout solution

The final shape of the house was significantly influenced by the constraints imposed by local conditions and the client's requirements. The task of the architectural design was to solve the placement of the house on a relatively narrow plot of land that slopes significantly towards the south. The young couple also wished to preserve the free western part of the plot for a potential future pool. This resulted in an elongated house partially set into the slope, whose basic cuboid mass is complemented only by a prominent terrace in the transverse direction.

The basic mass of the house, designed with a footprint of 6.2 × 22.2 m, has a gable roof in accordance with the local regulatory plan and stands on the street line. To the west, it is adjacent to a stairwell tube that transitions into a roof over the terrace in its southern part. The facades are unified by white plaster, whose clean unbroken surfaces are interrupted only by windows in a simple composition. The only color accent comes from the gray shades of the aluminum window frames, roofing, and the metal railing of the terrace.

Functional interior with plenty of sunlight

The house is entered from the north at the highest point of the plot, where the garage is located along with space for storing sports equipment and a technical room. A spacious entrance hall is followed by a cloakroom. The living area, located one floor below, is accessed by a straight staircase, which offers a view into the garden from its lower part.

The architects designed the living room, dining area, and kitchen as a single shared living space, but the individual zones are clearly defined here. The island kitchen is adjoined by a pantry. Additional storage space is provided by tall cabinets and a freestanding American refrigerator, both built into a niche. The kitchen leads to a laundry room, which includes a practical laundry chute from the upper bathroom. This floor also features a guest room with an adjoining bathroom and a separate toilet.

The main living area visually expands thanks to large-scale glazing with a glass corner, connecting it to the adjoining terrace and garden. The highly thermally insulated sliding door system with lift Schüco ASS 70.HI impresses with excellent sound insulation and ensures a quiet and easily operable access to the terrace. Large glazed areas with minimal subdivision provide the residents of the house with relaxing views of the surrounding landscape and ensure a perfect connection between the interior and exterior.

The bedroom section of the house, located at the level of the entrance floor, consists of the parents' bedroom, a children's room, a cloakroom, and a bathroom. The authors of the design also considered the potential future division of the children's room into two separate rooms. The living space of this floor is further complemented by a terrace accessible from the cloakroom and the children's room, which simultaneously creates a roof over the terrace set at ground level, connecting to the living room.
The heating of the house is provided by a gas condensing boiler and thermal panels. The optimal climate in the indoor spaces is supported by controlled ventilation with heat recovery.
