Screen roller blinds represent an effective shading element, which can also be part of the aesthetic intention of the architect and significantly contribute to the appearance of the facade – whether of a family house or, for example, an administrative building. Thanks to the wide range of fabrics, formats, and color designs, optimal sun protection can be designed for every project.

Since outdoor shading technology allows for the reflection of sunlight before it hits the window pane, it is much more effective compared to indoor blinds or shutters. Screens, which are specifically designed for external installation, can prevent the internal environment of the house from heating up during the summer much more effectively, and their use can significantly reduce air conditioning costs, or even function entirely without it. Nevertheless, screens can allow light into the room and provide the user with a view outside while still maintaining sufficient privacy.

The company BUILDING Shutter Systems, manufacturer of the Minirol roller shading technology, offers screen curtains in many designs – a variety of color shades (RAL color chart) as well as fabrics with different physical properties can be selected. The combination of several factors influences these properties, namely how much sunlight the given fabric reflects, how much solar energy in the form of heat it absorbs, and how much passes through it. For each type of fabric, the light transmittance value is also indicated, meaning how much the curtain will darken the room.

Optimal Sun Protection

Thanks to these parameters, the architect or future user can design optimal sun protection for a specific building. Residents of a family house will likely have different requirements for shading technology than, for example, office employees; shading for schools or hospitals will be chosen differently. In lecture halls, classrooms, or even bedrooms, it is more desirable to install curtains with minimal light transmittance, while in administrative buildings, where large format glazing is often used, the intention will be to maintain contact with the external environment and provide employees with a view outside. A sufficient amount of natural light along with thermal comfort forms the basis of a pleasant working environment. Employees at the administrative building of Tescan in Brno, the BMW dealership in Čestlice, or at the headquarters of Škoda Auto in Mladá Boleslav know this well, where large format screen blinds from the Minirol brand were chosen as both a shading and decorative element.

Distinctive Decorative Element

In addition to the option to choose from a wide range of fabrics in many color designs, Minirol screen blinds also allow for the selection of the frame color – depending on the architectural intention. Screens do not feature any massive structural elements and have discreet, subtle boxes into which the screen fabric wraps. These are made from extruded aluminum, and their covering height is very low – from 89 to 131 millimeters. The entire system can be fully integrated into the facade so as not to disrupt its appearance and blend naturally with it, or it can be exposed and serve as a distinctive decorative element that draws attention and provides interesting texture to the facade. There are options for screens with a visible box, with a recessed box, screen curtains for roller brackets, or completely without a box. The fabric with a zipper can be securely held in guide rails (Lockscreen), freely tensioned between the box and the bottom rail (Screen), or guided by steel cables (Cablescreen). These are anchored to the floor or window. By choosing the right solution, you can shade both large format windows (up to 20 m² in area) as well as pergolas or winter gardens. The offer also includes a wide range of control options – from electric with the possibility of connection to a smart home to manual control with a handle. Screens can also be equipped with temperature, sunlight, or wind sensors, and can be programmed according to sunrise and sunset times. A five-year warranty is offered on selected components of the Minirol brand.
