Across Europe, cladding made of building materials classified as fire reaction class A1 is increasingly required for public buildings with prefabricated structures. The reason is the European harmonization of tests or the classification of fire protection, which leads to a tightening of national requirements for building materials and structural elements. The FERMACELL Firepanel A1 board, a new addition to the wide range of FERMACELL gypsum fiber and cement-bonded boards and materials, builds on the excellent fire protection properties of standard FERMACELL boards, which have a fire reaction class of A2 due to their cellulose content. Its fire protection parameters are based on a new formulation and the use of non-combustible fibers.
The new FERMACELL Firepanel A1 fire protection boards thus belong to the highest European class of building materials A1 according to ČSN EN 13501-1. This allows them to be used wherever a fire protection class A1 is required for wall constructions. The boards are manufactured, tested, and marked according to European standards EN 15283-2 for fiber-reinforced gypsum boards (CE marking).
Firepanel A1 boards are produced in thicknesses of 10, 12.5, and 15 mm, and all known and appreciated properties of FERMACELL gypsum fiber boards for prefabricated constructions have been preserved. FERMACELL Firepanel A1 fire protection boards are certified for various system solutions and constructions, such as prefabricated walls with metal substructures without insulation, for facades/shaft walls, or for ceilings with wooden beams. Unlike commonly supplied construction systems with two FERMACELL 12.5 mm boards and 60 mm mineral fiber insulation, a fire resistance of EI 90 can be achieved with a system composed of two FERMACELL Firepanel A1 boards (each 10 mm thick) and additionally without insulation! The result is a fire protection slim partition structure that does not require either insulation or sealing of the first layer of boards.
