ROCKWOOL, a.s.

Quality flat roof insulation should not only meet the requirements for thermal protection of buildings set by standards but, above all, ensure the long lifespan of structures with minimal impact on the environment and maximum energy savings. In this regard, the excellent properties of stone wool cannot be overlooked. The global manufacturer of stone wool insulation, ROCKWOOL, substantiates this claim with many years of experience and references from several significant buildings in the Czech Republic and throughout Europe. It offers solutions in the form of two-layer insulation boards manufactured using Dual Density technology. For flat roof insulation, the patented two-layer insulation board Monrock MAX E is unequivocally recommended.
The mentioned insulation is characterized by the following properties, which can be declared as advantages compared to combinations of underlying and top insulating boards for flat roofs with different characteristics.

In the roof system, there is only one type of universal insulating board with declared properties and parameters:
  • guarantee of better and constant insulating properties – no thermal bridges at the joints;
  • lower weight with demonstrably lower load on the supporting structures;
  • guarantee of the highest fire safety and resistance with fire reaction class A1;
  • simplified logistics
Universality - the possibility of single-layer, double-layer, and multi-layer installation of insulating boards in thicknesses from 60 to 240 mm according to the specifics of the project and client requirements. Their application is suitable for apartments, family houses, civic amenities, industrial buildings, and logistics centers. They are utilized in traditional, low-energy, and passive construction.
Mechanical properties - the structure of the board and its upper rigid layer reliably meet all requirements for compressibility at 10% (min. 60 kPa) and point loading (min. 500 N) according to ETAG 006 – article 6.4.3.1 for systems of mechanically anchored flexible roofing membranes, bonded systems, ballast, and their combinations.
Acoustic properties – the excellent sound absorbency of the board can be enhanced by using the RAM damping foil (Rockwool Acoustic Membranes). When this foil is inserted between layers of thermal insulation, the airborne sound insulation in an area with a full trapezoidal sheet increases from 45.8 dB to 48.2 dB.

In connection with fire safety, the clear advantage of the Monrock MAX E roof board is the fact that it falls into the fire reaction class A1. The only valid standard in the European Union that regulates fire resistance tests for roofing systems is standard EN 1365-2. The Monrock MAX E board was tested according to this standard in an accredited testing institute under the supervision of the world-renowned independent inspection body TÜV SÜD and confirmed its non-combustibility. Throughout the entire test, there was no exceeding of sample deformation, significant smoke formation, or reduction in insulation thickness. What is essential as a result of several tests – these roofing compositions are completely safe to use in both ordinary spaces and spaces with an increased fire risk, for up to 60 minutes (fire resistance REI 30, 45, and 60).

The ROCKWOOL insulation offer for flat roofs includes, along with the Monrock MAX E board, the insulation Dachrock, the sloped system ROCKFALL, based on ROCKFALL sloped boards and ROCKFALL sloped wedges, as well as acoustic fillings for trapezoidal sheets. Also available are special products Megarock MAX (supplementary offer – a board with a reinforced cement layer of 3 mm thick, total thickness 60 – 160 mm) as the stiffest and most resistant boards to mechanical stress.

Detailed information about all these products can be found on the website www.rockwool.cz. Technical service and support are provided by specialists and sales representatives of ROCKWOOL. Inquiries can also be directed to the free technical consulting hotline – 800 161 161.

In conclusion, it can only be added that the Monrock MAX E insulation and other products intended for thermal insulation of flat roofs significantly increase the fire resistance of buildings, save energy, and are environmentally friendly. Their use can significantly contribute to current trends in ecological and healthy living.
