Prague – The Rohan Design District festival of architecture, design, and development in Prague will offer tours of usually inaccessible places, as well as exhibitions and lectures. The third edition of the event begins this evening at the Karlín Invalidovna. The festival runs until June 13 in Karlín and along the Rohanská embankment. Admission is free, but most events during the festival require prior registration.
The program of Rohan Design District features over 60 events including lectures, guided tours of various places, exhibitions of contemporary art, and meetings with personalities from the field. The main guest of this evening will be American architect of Polish descent Daniel Libeskind. The event will also include the ceremonial launch of the publication Yearbook Czech Architecture 2024-2025.
This year, attendees can look forward to guided tours of Bubny Station, the Musical Theatre Karlín, the residential project Fragment, and other buildings and sites in the area. Interested parties will also have the chance to peek into the showroom of the architectural studio Vrtiška & Žák or sculptor Rony Plesl.
"From the beginning, we wanted to show that architecture is not a closed world reserved only for professionals," said festival co-founder Lukáš Školoud. "Rohan Design District is an opportunity to look into places that usually remain hidden, to meet the people who shape the city, and to better understand how the environment in which we live is created," he added.
The program will also feature a lecture on the upcoming Philharmonic building in Prague, led by project team leader Martin Krupauer. There will also be an exhibition of 12 paintings and three sculptural works inspired by winter sports and the Olympic atmosphere titled Games of Winter Images.
