The Karviná district of Louky could have a new community center in the future

Karviná – The Karviná district of Louky could have a new community center in the future. It is intended to provide a space for local residents to meet, smaller cultural and social events, as well as facilities for community activities. This was announced to journalists by the spokesperson of the city hall, Monika Danková.

"We want Louky to be a place where people live well and have space to meet and spend time together. Such community places are very important in smaller districts. They help maintain neighborhood relationships and strengthen the life of the entire locality,” said Mayor Jan Wolf (independent).

The community center will include a social hall, sanitary facilities, and a space for catering. "Part of the plan will also be new football changing rooms, a workout area, and a children's playground, as well as new parking spaces in the surroundings, and photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roofs of the buildings to help cover part of the energy consumption," said the spokesperson.

The study for the new community center is already completed, and the city is now continuing with project preparation. The city hall expects that it could select a construction contractor in the spring of next year.

In addition to the community center, the city in Louky is also planning the construction of a new kindergarten. "A modern modular building will be built right in the current kindergarten area and will offer a higher quality and safer environment for children and staff. The project will also include a new garden, terrace, and play elements. Currently, the permitting process is underway. Construction is expected to begin later this year,” said Deputy Mayor of Karviná Lukáš Raszyk (SOCDEM).

Recently, a new pedestrian and cyclist bridge called the Neighborly Bridge has been opened in the area over the Olše River, connecting Karviná-Louky with the Polish municipality of Hažlach. The bridge linked cycling paths on both sides of the border.
