Otrokovice - The town of Otrokovice in the Zlín region has completed three apartment buildings with a total of 42 rental apartments in the Baťov area. The first tenants will start moving in on May 1st, the town hall spokeswoman Lenka Vaculová informed ČTK today. The New Hurdisky project cost 134.4 million crowns.
The buildings have apartments with layouts of 1+kk, 2+kk, and 3+kk. The project also includes a new public space, greenery, a playground, and parking spaces. "The New Hurdisky are an important milestone for us in urban housing. They show that even a town can actively create quality housing for its residents," said the mayor of Otrokovice, Hana Večerková (ANO).
At the beginning of May, 25 apartments will be handed over, and more tenants will move in in June. There is a great deal of interest in the apartments. "It was already evident during the application process when the town recorded dozens of applications within the first hour of opening. The demand significantly exceeded capacity," said the spokeswoman. The rent is set from 10,640 to 15,650 crowns per month, depending on the size of the apartment.
The New Hurdisky project builds on the Baťa tradition. "We worked with the motif of a brick, which creates a three-dimensional element, connects with greenery, and together forms the character of the entire space," said architect Michal Hladil. Almost all rainwater is also utilized, serving for purposes such as flushing or irrigation. "At the same time, we minimized hardened concrete areas – for example, parking is solved with grass paving blocks, which helps reduce overheating of the environment," said Hladil.
The construction cost 134.4 million crowns, with a grant from the State Investment Support Fund amounting to over 28 million crowns, and a loan from the fund of 73.6 million crowns. The town contributed 32.5 million crowns from its own funds.
"We started construction in the summer of 2024 and completed it approximately one month earlier than the planned date," said Jiří Stacke, CEO of the contracting company Zlínstav. According to him, a pleasant whole was created, offering not only apartments but also sufficient parking spaces, facilities for families, and quality public space.
