Zlín – The Zlín city council has approved the sale of land for a new urban district Březnická for more than 365 million crowns. The winner of the public tender is the joint-stock company Trikaya Asset Management. The company plans to invest an additional 87 million crowns into infrastructure and public spaces. The sale of the land must still be approved by the city representatives, who will meet in September, spokesperson for the Zlín city hall Tomáš Melzer told ČTK today. Hundreds of apartments, offices, and other civic amenities are expected to be built in the area in the future.

The construction concerns an area of up to 23,677 square meters along Březnická Street near the city center. The city hall is selling 9,000 square meters of land in the public tender. "The development area of Březnická is unique for the city due to its location and thus one of the most significant properties owned by the city of Zlín. By approving the winner of the competition, we are taking another important step towards creating a modern urban district here in the future, which will offer new housing, job opportunities, and quality public spaces," said Mayor Jiří Korec (ANO).

The subject of the competition were plots designated for the construction of a new urban district according to the approved territorial study. "The future investor is obliged to respect its urban and architectural parameters and to realize mixed-use development, which will primarily include housing, office spaces, civic amenities, and related transport infrastructure. A total of eight apartment buildings will be created," Melzer stated.

According to the city hall, part of the commitments also includes the construction of a new connecting road, bays for public transport (MHD), temporary facilities for MHD drivers, or the reconstruction of the street U Zimního stadionu. The public spaces between the individual buildings will remain in the ownership of Zlín. "The conditions of the competition were set so that the city would have certainty of a quality solution for the entire locality, adherence to the parameters of the territorial study, and the construction of necessary transport and technical infrastructure. Hundreds of apartments, shops, offices, civic amenities, and high-quality public spaces will be created," said Deputy Mayor Pavel Brada (ANO).

According to him, the city of Zlín will use the proceeds from the sale to build a parking garage and a sports hall, and will keep one plot for residential development. "I am satisfied with the results of the competition, as it is the largest transaction in the history of the city of Zlín, and we are fulfilling our vision that the city should be a key player in preparing new development areas and new neighborhoods," the deputy added.

The final decision on the sale of the land will be made by the Zlín representatives on September 16. After its approval, the city plans to enter into follow-up contracts with the winner of the competition, which will set the conditions for the transfer of the land and the planned construction.
