In Ostrava, the Stodolní Residence is being created, the apartments are already sold out

Ostrava – The Stodolní Residence in the center of Ostrava, where a multifunctional building with shops and more than 130 apartments is being developed, will be completed next August. All the apartments have already been sold, and the commercial spaces are also occupied. The investor of the construction, costing around 600 million crowns, is Linkcity Czech Republic, which purchased the land from the city for about 25 million crowns. This was announced to reporters today by representatives of the city, the investor, and the contractor.

The building is being constructed on a brownfield site at the corner of Masná, Stodolní, and Porážková streets. "In cooperation with the city, we will also create a new public space located between the Plato gallery and the residence, which will enliven the area and bring life here. This is a multifunctional building; the entire first above-ground floor is a retail section, the shops are fully sold and occupied, and the rest will be residential in a building with five to six above-ground floors. Apartments are no longer available," said Zavrtálková.

The prices of the apartments ranged from 85,000 to 110,000 crowns per square meter. The residence will feature apartments from 1+kk to 4+kk sizes, with areas from 30 to 120 square meters. Larger apartments make up about 30 percent of the complex.

The fact that the apartments are fully sold out a year before the construction is completed, according to Mayor Jan Dohnal (Together), indicates that the city needs to look for further opportunities for residential construction. According to him, the project follows the overall transformation of the area in recent years. Besides the renovated historical slaughterhouse, which has been transformed into a gallery, a judicial complex is expected to be built in the area in the future, and there are plans for the modernization of the nearby Místecká street.

"Ten or twelve years ago, this was a forgotten part of the center, which is actually at the heart of Ostrava. We want to create conditions for infill development," said Dohnal. He believes that in a few years, the area will look completely different. The residence will be located near Stodolní street, which has been a well-known entertainment hub of the city, but its fame has declined in recent years. The city would like to see this street transformed in the future as well. "Stodolní is really no longer what it used to be. We are definitely working on its revitalization. We have now restricted vehicle access from Nádražní street," said the mayor. The city would like to see entertainment businesses in the future at the beginning of the street, coming from Nádražní street. Closer to the residential area, according to Dohnal, there could be space for interesting restaurants, cafes, or cultured clubs. "Moreover, we know that the area for entertainment is currently developing along the river, from the City campus to Sýkorův bridge," added Dohnal.

The representative of the contractor, Jiří Cetkovský, stated that the construction is currently proceeding according to schedule. The builders have also used special technologies that, for example, prevent vibrations from penetrating from road and rail traffic, as a railway line runs behind the building.
