Znojmo - Znojmo has decided to offer developers the location under the Town Forest for the construction of family homes and smaller apartment buildings for the second time this year. Although no investor has shown interest, the city offers the land at the same price of 37 million crowns, which is 950 crowns per square meter, stated Mayor Vlastimil Gabrhel (ČSSD) in a press release.

The city leadership has decided not to compromise on the conditions, although they considered doing so after a previous unsuccessful attempt. They expected that investors would be interested. The city wants a residential neighborhood to be created in the location. The developer is also to commit to taking over the architectural study that the construction must respect. There are to be 27 family houses, and the apartment buildings should have a maximum of four floors with 110 apartments. The study anticipates that the area will be divided into two spatial units separated by public green space.

City officials still believe that interested parties will emerge. "The price may be a bit higher for South Moravian conditions, but in our opinion, it corresponds to the attractiveness of the location just a stone's throw from the historic center," said Gabrhel.

The location is about four hectares and is bordered by the streets Únanovská, Přímětická, and Trentská. Nearby is the Town Forest, and behind Únanovská, there is a planned bypass route for transit traffic from Jihlava heading towards Austria.

The city is also trying to prevent residents from leaving through the construction efforts in the area. According to the census, the population decreased by 1,700 between 2001 and 2011 to 34,078, and the decline continues. "We are facing the issue that people want to live in their own home, but the capacities of the center and its immediate surroundings are insufficient. This is to be one of the options to offer people housing in a house with their own land a little away from the city center," said city spokesperson Zuzana Pastrňáková.

Interested parties can apply at the town hall until July 11. By the end of June, the city is also offering the location Malá Louka near Vídeňská and Brněnská streets. A more than five-hectare plot has been valued at 102.5 million crowns according to an expert assessment.
