Mikuláš Hapka - Solution for the Poldi Kladno brownfield

In my project, I want to draw attention to the brownfield of the Kladno steelworks, which decays like necrotic tissue in the middle of the local agglomeration. As a solution, its demanding demolition is often proposed, but the area has undeniable historical, cultural (and aesthetic) value. Therefore, I decided to take a different approach. Starting from old maps, I defined the backbone elements of Kladno and reconnected the brownfield to the organism of the city and its surroundings, precisely to those routes it itself interrupted. Into their new intersection, below the former coal storage, I will insert an observation tower. In doing so, I will allow local residents to discover, explore, and embrace a new dimension of Kladno, which will subsequently come to life.
