Mnichovo Hradiště – Mnichovo Hradiště in the Mladá Boleslav region has chosen the winner of a narrowed architectural competition for the expansion of the school complex of the elementary school on Studentská Street. The new pavilion, the expansion of the school's wing, and the sports hall will be built according to the proposal by the Svobodová Blaha studio, which succeeded among six competing designs. The city will now negotiate a contract with them for the preparation of project documentation. In response to a query from ČTK, the city's deputy mayor Jan Mareš (We Live for Hradiště) stated this today.
The financing of the buildings, with an estimated budget of several hundred million crowns, will mainly be secured by the city through grants. In the selection process, the committee also considered that the various parts will be built gradually. First, the city intends to complete the wing for higher grades and the sports hall. The expansion will take place in the southwestern part of the current school complex.
"By implementing the new wing, we will resolve the school's capacity issue, and by building a sports hall that will serve both education and sports clubs as well as the public, a dignified new space for sports and large school social events will be created," Mareš stated. The new school wing is expected to have 12 classrooms, a cafeteria, and changing rooms. The work will also involve adjustments to the school complex and surrounding streets.
According to Mareš, the preliminary cost estimate is around 600 million crowns. The city intends to apply for a grant from the National Sports Agency for the construction of the sports hall and from the Ministry of Education for the school buildings. "The pavilion for the lowest grades will not be designed for now, but we wanted everything to be spatially arranged," he added. According to him, construction could start in three to four years.
The proposals were evaluated by a jury consisting of representatives of the city and independent architects. In second place, they ranked a proposal from Chybik+Kristof Associated Architects, and in third, a proposal from the ov-architekti studio. All competition proposals will be available for the public to view on June 6 at the Mírová Community Center. The city collaborated with the Czech Chamber of Architects and the organization CBArchitektura on the preparation of the conditions for the architectural competition.
