Prague - The city district Prague 7 wants an architectural competition to determine the future appearance and use of approximately one hundred hectares in the Bubny area. In response to a query from ČTK, councilor Lenka Burgerová stated this. The city hall anticipates the creation of an urban boulevard with squares and parks that will fit in with the context of the neighboring districts. The height of the buildings should also relate to Letná and Holešovice. According to Burgerová, railway transport should play an important role, while transport corridors are unacceptable.

The city council has been preparing a change to the zoning plan for several years, which will determine what will be built in the extensive area of Bubny. Last year, it presented a study outlining how the area could be utilized. It includes plans for the construction of a northern vestibule of the Vltavská metro station, the creation of two urban boulevards on Argentinská and Brazilská streets, and a new square featuring the former train station building, which could house a Holocaust museum. The city council is currently negotiating the changes with the city district.
Developers in Bubny are preparing investments worth tens of billions of crowns. The lands are owned by companies such as Orco and Prominecon Group. There have been discussions about the construction of office, residential, and commercial complexes, as well as a concert hall that Prague lacks.
"Prague 7 will engage in intensive negotiations with landowners and investors and will try to find a common path leading to the opening of the area and its meaningful urban development in close cooperation with the Institute of Planning and Development and the author of the zoning plan," Burgerová stated. The city hall also suggests that valuable industrial buildings should be preserved in the future and the function of the Vltava embankment should be supported.
According to earlier estimates, work on traffic calming and railway modernization could begin between 2016 and 2017. The complete redevelopment of the area will take 15 to 30 years.
