Brno - The work of the significant architect Zdeněk Fránek is presented from today at the House of Art in Brno in a new exhibition called The Interiors of Architecture. Fránek works in Brno and has recently drawn public attention, for example, with the construction of the Church of the Brethren in Litomyšl. The exhibition consists of building models, spatial objects, and projections that document Fránek's reflections on architecture. Fránek has often worked with plastic forms in the past, but he also has seemingly austere buildings in his portfolio. He draws from a range of inspirational sources that he uniquely combines - from the Baroque builder Santini to organic architecture. "Zdeněk Fránek is the first contemporary architect to have the entire exhibition floor of the House of Art available for the presentation of his work," stated curator Rostislav Koryčánek in the introductory word to the exhibition. The exhibition deviates from the usual way of gallery presentation of architecture. The existing production of Fránek's studio is intentionally presented only through models. More crucial are the various installations that hint at the architect's thinking about space. "The exhibition provides visitors with an extraordinary spatial experience and the opportunity to glimpse into the interiors of architecture," said Koryčánek. Fifty-year-old Fránek was born in Boskovice and established his own studio shortly after 1989. Among the interesting buildings from the early years of his activity is a family house in Hodonín, which resembles a white flower in shape, or the Moravian Cartographic Centre in Velké Opatovice in the Blanensko region. Fránek gained greater media interest both in the Czech Republic and abroad after 2005. The reason was the award-winning villa under the Red Hill in Brno and the multifunctional Eucon building in Prague. In addition to the discussed and admired church in Litomyšl, Fránek has also recently designed a prayer house for the Brethren Church in Černošice.
