On Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 5 PM, the exhibition of Milan Pitlach's Shanghai Concepts will be ceremoniously opened at the Cabinet of Architecture in the House of Arts in Ostrava. The exhibition will showcase architectural concepts created during the architect's time in Shanghai, China. The opening will be introduced by Jiří Jůza, the director of the Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava (GVUO), and the architect will personally inaugurate the exhibition. The exhibition, organized by the civic association SPOK, will run until May 20, 2012.
As part of the opening, there will be a ceremonial presentation of Milan Pitlach's photographic publication "Salt of the Earth," with the book's launching to be led by Ostrava poet and writer Petr Hruška.
From March 28, concurrent with the exhibition at the House of Arts, a presentation of Pitlach's drawings titled Milan Pitlach/ Sketchbooks will take place at the Industrial Gallery on Zahradní Street in Ostrava.

Milan Pitlach (1943) is an architect of Czech origin who permanently lives in Düsseldorf. He studied at the Czech Technical University in Prague and is a member of the Chamber of Architects of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Czech Chamber of Architects. He has worked and exhibited around the world, including in Great Britain, Germany, Japan, and China. He worked for several years in the renowned O. M. Ungers studio in Cologne, and in recent years lived and created in Shanghai, China, where he worked on residential and multifunctional complexes and addressed extensive urban planning projects. In addition to architecture, he is also engaged in photography, showcasing his works in solo exhibitions. His photographs, as well as his opinions and insights, are frequently published in Revolver Revue and its Critical Supplement.
