Boris Podrecca

Vernissage: March 13 at 5 PM with the participation of the exhibition's author B. Podrecca
The exhibition runs until April 29, 2012.

The exhibition at the Zlín House of Arts will present projects by the internationally renowned and respected architect Boris Podrecca (1940). One of the most interesting Austrian architects, he is also a significant theorist in the field, and his lectures are sought after worldwide.

We will showcase the work of the esteemed author through 28 designs, including 8 models of specific buildings. They reflect his tolerant approach to historical buildings and his pursuit of perfection in detail. His work combines the heritage of the multinational Austro-Hungarian art with the latest trends in European and world architecture.

Among Podrecca's most interesting works are, for example, the neurophysiological institute in the Stahremberg Palace (1982), the Humanic Casapiccola shopping center, Palmers shop (1989) in Vienna, and the interior design of the First Austrian Savings Bank (1993). His probably most famous building is the Millennium Tower in Vienna. The building with a glass facade has the floor plan of two circles and is 202 meters tall. Noteworthy are also his extraordinary communication structures – the North Station in Vienna and the design of a unique subway station in Naples.

The only realizations in the Czech Republic are the Austrian Cultural Institute and the Oskar Kokoschka Gallery in Prague. The exhibition is authored by Boris Podrecca himself in collaboration with Damjan Prelovšek.

The exhibition is open daily except Mondays from 9 AM to 5 PM, on Thursdays until 6 PM.
