From March 8, 2017, there will be an exhibition of young talented architects at the MaGC. The Young Architect Award competition gives students and young architects under 33 the chance to showcase their talent. The purpose is to involve authors in the creation of quality public spaces, bring architecture closer to the general public, and, last but not least, support public discourse about architecture. The theme for the 2016 edition was Architecture Out of Time. The expert jury evaluated the works based on the quality of architectural/urban solutions, site selection, conceptuality and context of the solution, contribution to the quality of the environment, sustainability and cleverness of the design, innovativeness, and originality of the work. The expert jury worked under the leadership of jury chairman Zdeněk Fránek, Dean of FUA TU in Liberec, Fránek Architects, with members: Petr Hájek, Petr Hájek Architekti, Jakub Fišer, Aulík Fišer architects, Jana Hlavová, and Josef Pechar, Foundation "Nadání J., M. a Z. Hlávkových". “Students and young architects did not hesitate to spend a lot of time demonstrating their own vision of their perspective on the announced theme. This year’s edition had an ideational theme, which the jury believes is particularly relevant in today’s search for the identity of Czech architecture. The awareness of this issue took place against the background of the experiences of young architects with the international context. The jury was surprised by the not large number of imaginative solutions, but those that the jury assessed among the best were worth it. This confirmed that true talent is not something common, and those who manifest it should receive further opportunities,” says jury chairman Zdeněk Fránek. As part of the announcement of the competition results, which took place in September 2016 in Prague, a traveling exhibition of the nominated designs was also launched, which will be presented at the Museum and Gallery Center. The exhibition is installed on the 2nd floor of the MaGC and will last until April 23, 2017. More information >
