The European Commission and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe have published the seven finalists competing for the EU Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2022, five in the Architecture category and two in the Emerging Architects category.

The presentation of the finalists took place on the occasion of the EU Mies Award exhibition at the Zodiak pavilion in Warsaw. The jury believes that the seven finalist projects serve as a model for municipal policies. The finalists' projects address new governance models based on community and circular sustainability processes. The work also focuses on a productive and self-sufficient city, with dignified spaces that we inhabit and utilize. They are also the result of well-developed construction processes and careful material and detail choices: the dignity of everyday architecture, a dialogue between monumentality, education, and heritage.

During March, the jury will visit all five realizations to subsequently select the winner. The winners of both categories will be announced at the end of April. The award ceremony will take place on May 12, 2022 at the Mies van der Rohe pavilion in Barcelona.
