Brno - Brno can negotiate with Masaryk University about the exchange of properties, including the White House for university land under the roads on the campus. The intention for the exchange was approved by the representatives today. The White House, which is owned by the city, is home to, among others, doctors. According to the university spokesperson Tereza Fojtová, the university would like to establish an Institute of Computer Science there. Councilor Marek Janíček (ANO) said that the functioning of the clinics is not in jeopardy. Within four years, the doctors are expected to relocate to the reconstructed Polyclinic Zahradníkova.

The city council approved, according to Janíček, only the intention for the exchange; clearer outlines will be provided by the December meeting of the representatives. The university can offer the city of Brno land under the roads that the city built during the construction of the Bohunice university campus. "We would like to use the White House for education and for the Institute of Computer Science of Masaryk University, which currently operates in multiple locations, including rented spaces. The current leases that the city of Brno has in the White House would not be affected by a potential purchase," said university spokesperson Tereza Fojtová to ČTK. The building is on the list of potential school investments until 2024.

The eight-story administrative building of the White House was built on Žerotín Square according to the design by architects Miroslav Spurný and František Jakubec between 1974 and 1976. It belonged to the city committee of the Communist Party and began to serve healthcare purposes after 1989.

The building also includes a multifunctional hall for up to 300 people, named after the composer and conductor Břetislav Bakala. In the vicinity of the White House are other buildings and operations of Masaryk University, such as the rectorate, cafeteria, archive, Faculty of Social Studies, Faculty of Arts, gym, and university cinema.
