Brno will process an investment plan for the modifications of Míru Square, thus clarifying the price as well

Brno – The processing of the investment plan for the reconstruction and completion of Míru Square near Kraví hora park in Brno was today approved by the Brno city council during their meeting. Last year, an architectural competition was held, which was won by the proposal of Luboš Františák. The investment plan is to confirm the completeness of the calculation for this proposal. The council informed about this in a press release.

According to the proposal, the square will undergo significant changes, with the current building of the Brněnka store being demolished, and a multipurpose building will be constructed in the adjacent former military area. "During the processing, cooperation with specialists will be necessary, for example, for an acoustically and spatially suitable solution for the community center, with the transport company regarding changes to the tram line, with the architect, as well as with the landowners under today's self-service store, who will participate in the investment. This will give us a more accurate idea of the technical complexity of the implementation and, above all, a more precise estimate of the anticipated total costs, which are currently set at nearly 447 million crowns including VAT," stated Brno's mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS).

After the modifications, the area of the square is to be expanded, and the pedestrian promenade will be visually linked to the adjacent park. Two connected buildings will be constructed in the former military area. One will be owned by the city and will house a community center along with 38 smaller apartments. The construction of the second building should be financed by Brněnka, which will also have a store in it and 17 apartments. Both buildings are to include underground garages and spaces for shops and services.
