The Peace Square in Brno will undergo reconstruction, featuring a new park and a multifunctional building

Brno - The Brno Square of Peace is set to undergo reconstruction, an investment plan was approved by city councilors today. After the modifications, a new park or multifunctional building will be created there, announced Klára Opálková from the city hall press office in a press release. The anticipated costs of the reconstruction are 769 million crowns, including tax.

According to the city, the current state of the square is inadequate and confusing, as there are traffic barriers. According to Černý, the goal of the work is to create a pleasant place for residents and visitors. The design of the square is based on a proposal from the ofschem architects studio, which won the architectural competition organized by the Office of the City of Brno in May 2021.

The work includes the modification of roads, the construction of a new park, repair of the tram track, and the building of a multifunctional house. The former military area between Údolní and Lerchova streets will also be transformed. The reconstruction will cost 769 million crowns, excluding tax, including project work.

"The completion of the new urban block with an attractive ground floor with arcades, a well-thought-out spatial and operational concept, the selection of suitable trees, and the cozy enhancement of public space will increase the attractiveness of this underutilized center," stated René Černý (Independent, formerly ANO).
