Brno - The city council of Brno today selected a consortium of companies that will reconstruct a section of Údolní Street from Úvoz to the turnoff to Kraví Hora for 209 million crowns. This was stated to journalists today by the mayor's deputy Richard Mrázek (ANO). Work will begin in the coming weeks and will last for 12 months, affecting both the street and the engineering networks. The reconstruction will come with traffic restrictions.
The tender was won by a consortium called Brno, Údolní-Firesta+DS Brno. "Once the appeal periods have expired, a contract can be signed with the contractor. Their task will then be to specify the construction schedule and prepare and discuss the necessary detour routes so that construction can begin as soon as possible," Mr. Mrázek stated.
The condition of the street is poor. The construction includes a complete replacement of engineering networks, such as sewage, water supply, gas, and electricity. This will be followed by the replacement of the tram tracks and the reconstruction of the overhead lines and surface adjustments, including sidewalks, parking, and greenery.
The project also includes the complete reconstruction of Klácelova and Kampelíkova streets and the unrenovated part of Lerchova Street, which can only start being repaired after the reconstruction and reopening of Údolní. The contractor must always ensure that the work does not block the area in terms of transportation.
The section from Úvoz to Kraví Hora is one of the originally three planned phases. The next one includes the section from Úvoz to the opposite side to Husova Street, while the third should be the reconstruction of Míru Square, but the city previously excluded this part because the Brno-Center district was addressing how the square should look.
Brno wants to repair other important streets for hundreds of millions of crowns as well. These include Benešova, Štefánikova, and Veveří. In the past, it has already repaired Milady Horáková, Horova, and Minská streets.
