Brno - The Brno Údolní street will reopen to tram traffic on Sunday evening after a year, and cars will be allowed to pass through from May 1st. On this occasion, the transport company, together with the Brno Observatory and Planetarium, will operate a special tram accompanied by an astronaut, who is expected to be the disguised director of the observatory, Jiří Dušek, said the transport company's spokesperson Hana Tomaštíková to ČTK.

Údolní was under repair from Míru Square to the intersection with Úvoz, and repairs toward the center to Komenského Square are planned and could begin in at least two years. "We will operate trams from Komenského Square at 18:00. The previously long-standing and now reactivated K3R tram will operate. Inside, it will have thematic decorations prepared in collaboration with the observatory," Tomaštíková stated.

After the ceremonial ride, the resumption of tram line 4 to Míru Square is expected. The entire route to Obřany will operate again after more than a year and a half, as Valchařská street and Maloměřický bridge were also reconstructed. "Before the evening end of service, the bus line x4 will remain in operation. The night line N89 will already run from Sunday to Monday on its regular route along Údolní street," Tomaštíková mentioned. The bus stop for line 68 will return to the tram loop at the beginning of Březinova street only from Monday morning.

In recent years, Brno has repaired several major streets, such as Husova, Milady Horákové, Minská, Horova, Pionýrská, and Valchařská, and is currently repairing part of Cejl and Zábrdovické, including Zábrdovický bridge. In the coming years, it plans to repair not only the second part of Údolní but also Benešova, Štefánikova, and Veveří.
