Brno - Brno wants to reconstruct the trolleybus depot in Komín. The estimated costs are around 200 million crowns, but everything will be clarified by the project documentation. The mayor's deputy Richard Mrázek (ANO) told reporters today. According to him, the technical condition of the building does not meet today's standards, and there are high heating costs. If everything goes smoothly, construction could begin by the end of next year. The city intends to draw funds from the European Union for this purpose. The public transport company welcomes the reconstruction.

The Brno city council today selected a designer for the building permit documentation, including the implementation project documentation. The designer has 240 days to complete both. "We want a complete reconstruction of the main building for trolleybus parking, including the replacement of windows and insulation of the facade. The plan also includes the completion of the roof reconstruction," said Mrázek.

He also mentioned plans for the reconstruction of other facilities. "This involves the high-voltage switchboard, including the transformer station, the washing facility for trolleybuses including the wastewater treatment plant that captures oil substances. It will also affect the road where test drives are conducted," listed Mrázek.

Repairs will take place during operations. "We will not clear out one hundred percent, however, some trolleybuses will have to operate from alternative depots during the reconstruction," the deputy informed.

The construction of the Komín depot began in 1994 and has been in operation since 1997. Barbora Doležalová, spokesperson for the Brno City Transport Company, told ČTK that there are 75 trolleybuses in the depot out of a total of 150. The rest are in the depot in Husovice. "We welcome the reconstruction. Employees will work under better conditions than they currently have," said Doležalová.
