Petr Stolín

After the Kopřivnice practice of Kamil Mrva, this year's Archiweb Award 2014 goes to the Liberec studio of Petr Stolín, who has been active on the Czech architectural scene for three decades. His work is characterized by consistent quality, with interwoven motifs found in individual designs, and therefore, in the editorial team, we look forward to each new realization.
A native of Svitavy and a graduate of the Brno University of Technology, he eventually settled under Karel Hubáček at Stavoprojekt in Liberec and subsequently at Sial. In the early 1990s, he managed to design a number of significant social and educational buildings in the Liberec region together with Zdeněk Jiran. He has won the Building of the Year Award for the Liberec Region twice in a row, and now the public likely remembers him for his own house with a studio, which sets an example that quality architecture does not have to be complicated or expensive.
Petr Stolín does nothing half-heartedly or for short-sighted profit if it would compromise the resulting realization that he could not stand behind. During a visit to his studio, however, you rather feel like you are in the midst of a summer holiday stay. At the beginning of next year, we will return to his work in an extensive interview. For now, we sincerely congratulate him.
