Pardubice – Czech Post wants to sell its building on Míru Avenue in Pardubice. The building from the 1930s was designed by architect Ladislav Machoň and has been offered to the city. The city hall has not yet decided and will negotiate the terms with the state enterprise. Radim Jelínek, the spokesperson for the city hall, told ČTK.

Although Czech Post wants to sell the building, its branch will remain on the ground floor. However, it does not have full utilization of the building. Currently, it uses less than 50 percent of it and is renting out part of it.

"The public branch will remain intact in full scope," Ivo Vysoudil, the spokesperson for the state enterprise, told ČTK.

According to him, the building is in very good condition. It does not show any defects that would disrupt the functioning of the object. Expert assessments are being prepared. "We are working very closely with the city and our cooperation is at a very good level. The city, or the state, has a preferential right to purchase the building under current legislation, if it acts in the public interest. We are not giving the city any deadlines," Vysoudil said.

After the assessments are completed and the intention to sell is published on the public administration portal, and if Pardubice shows interest in buying, the post office will start working on contractual agreements. "If the city and no other state organization express interest, the property will be sold in an electronic auction to the highest bidder," Vysoudil stated.

According to spokesperson Jelínek, the city council has tasked Mayor Martin Charvat (ANO) with further negotiations. A decision on whether to purchase or refuse the offer is far from made. Machoň designed the post office building, where the post office is located today, in the 1930s. The architect reduced his design for a telephone exchange for Prague's Letná in Pardubice.
