Karlovy Vary - The Karlovy Vary Region will adjust the project for the reconstruction of the Imperial Baths to integrate their surroundings into the concept of the Theater Promenade that the city is preparing. The changes will concern, for example, the paving in front of the Imperial Baths building, as well as the differing levels of the communications. The reconstruction of the Imperial Baths will be completed in a year, but the finished facade of the national cultural monument has already been revealed to the public, said Pavel Čekan (HNHRM), a councilor of the Karlovy Vary Region, to ČTK.

The concept of the Theater Promenade, which will span from Theater Square to the Imperial Baths, has been developed by the Office of Architecture of the City of Karlovy. "They have a specific idea about the size and color of the paving stones or what kind of planting we should have in the area. So we want to get as close to that as possible. That's why we are changing the original project and have slightly increased the funds for the designer," Čekan stated.

The study of the Theater Promenade primarily involves calming traffic and reorganizing parking spaces in relation to the planned parking garages. It should mainly support pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and new tree rows should be planted in the area. The study also addresses the proposal for quality surfaces with simple but functional details. The study pertains to the right bank of the Teplá River from the Hot Spring Colonnade to the Imperial Baths, which should once again become one of the dominant features of this area.

Work is still ongoing on the reconstruction of the Imperial Baths, but some elements are already completed. The public now has the opportunity to see the future appearance of the monument after several years of the entire construction being covered with scaffolding. The reconstruction is expected to cost 1.3 billion crowns, including the unique installation of a concert hall in the courtyard of the Imperial Baths.
