Prague - The DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Holešovice is preparing a series of intimate exhibitions and extensive exhibition projects for next year. One of the highlights of the gallery's program for 2012 will be a retrospective exhibition of the icon of the domestic art scene, sculptor Karel Nepraše, whose works will be on display in the gallery during the summer months. CTK was informed about the upcoming exhibition and other projects by the center's spokesperson Michaela Šilpochová.

"The schedule again includes projects that extend into other disciplines (psychology, philosophy, or sociology), which touch on contemporary and historical taboos, domestic and foreign political and social issues through artistic communication," commented Šilpochová on the upcoming season.
The first novelties for visitors are already waiting from January, when a trio of exhibitions: The Silent Village, Middle East Europe, and Anastomosis begins. Their themes are the Lidice tragedy, Middle Eastern conflict, and a new architectural perspective on the functioning of the metropolis.
"In the spring, the work of artist Čestmír Suška will be presented, and summer will belong to a large retrospective of the giant of the Czech art scene, Karel Nepraše," revealed Šilpochová. DOX will also present an exhibition titled Cage: Anarchy as Practice in the summer, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth and the 20th anniversary of the death of the famous American musician, writer, and artist John Cage (1912 - 1992). Autumn will then bring an exhibition focused on the female element in Viennese actionism.
DOX has already completed its third year of existence. In 2011, the gallery significantly expanded its exhibition space and offered visitors 31 exhibitions. According to Šilpochová, the most successful exhibition in terms of audience was The Lucifer Effect: Encounter with Evil, which is open until January 2, 2012. Exhibitions Martin Parr - Assorted Cocktail and Rudolf Steiner and Contemporary Art were also reportedly extraordinarily successful.
