Brno - The reconstructed Avion hotel came to life today with a four-day festival, Brno Design Days. The theme of this year's third edition is the revelation of secrets. The festival curator, Alexandra Georgescu, told journalists that the festival will welcome significant personalities from Brno as well as world-renowned names. Among them are the designer of the DIOR fashion house, Margherita Carrara, and the Dutch architect, Bertrand Schippan. The goal of the festival is to spread and deepen awareness of design.

The festival will offer dozens of events until Sunday, and interested parties will be able to peek into the otherwise inaccessible reconstructed Avion. The entire program is composed around the theme of revealing secrets. "Speakers will reveal their secrets to us on Friday and Saturday during their lectures. Interested individuals will meet them in workshops," stated Georgescu.

In addition to Carrara and Schippan, designer Frank Tjepkema, as well as Czech representatives Adam Vodička, typographer David Březina, and graphic designer Jakub Konvica, will also present. Workshops will introduce participants to the secrets of bioplastics, teach them how to make their own silver jewelry, prepare a sample table, or design clothing. Thematic installations will also be present.

This year's festival mainly revolves around the hotel Avion, which has been closed for about eight years, where there will also be accompanying programs. Visitors will be able to purchase interesting pieces at the design exishop, relax in the design café with a book, attend a fashion show of selected designers' models, or watch a film screening.

Throughout the festival, an exhibition of works by students from Brno's artistic fields will take place. "On Friday evening, we will announce the best works chosen by the expert jury. The aim of the exhibition is to showcase Brno talents to the general public and professional visitors, and subsequently motivate and support them in their future creations," added Georgescu.

The hotel on Česká Street in the city center began operation in 1928. The building, designed by architect Bohuslav Fuchs, is owned by a private owner. The aim of the reconstruction is to restore hotel operations while preserving the heritage value of the building.
