Brno - The council of the city of Brno today approved the terms of the concession procedure for the construction of a football stadium at Lužánky. According to them, the future investor will acquire the necessary land, build the sports facility at their own expense, and operate it. This was stated in a press release by the deputy mayor René Černý (ANO). The option at Lužánky, where a dilapidated stadium stands, returned to the table considering the interest of the new owner of Brno's Zbrojovka to finance the project.
The city owns all the land in the area behind Lužánky. To ensure the legal establishment and operation of the football stadium, the sale of the land must be addressed through a concession procedure. "It guarantees that a stadium will be built there and the city and the investor will have precisely defined conditions for the use of the affected land," said mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS).
After today's approval of the concession procedure terms, there will be a period during which interested parties must submit qualification documents. "We expect that the deadline for submitting final offers after discussing all conditions will be set by the beginning of July next year," added councilor for sports Tomáš Aberl (TOP 09). The parameters for decision-making will be the purchase price of the land and the guarantees for the construction and subsequent operation of the stadium by the contractor. The result of the procedure should be clear presumably in August next year.
The area behind Lužánky is burdened mainly by a dispute over the ownership of the land with businessman Libor Procházka. To build the stadium, the dispute will need to be resolved definitively. The preparation of the entire project and stadium will be in the hands of the winner of the concession procedure. The city will continue to be ready to provide all support and cooperation to the future investor, the city hall stated.
