Litomyšl (Svitavsko) - Around the middle of the year, the Brethren Church in Litomyšl will complete the rough construction of a new and unusual church. They still have funds for rough work but must acquire more through donations or public institutions. This was stated to reporters by the church's pastor Daniel Smetana. "As of today, three million crowns have been raised in donations. While a few hundred or a thousand crowns may seem little to some, contributions from citizens form the largest flow of money. We are glad that events are being held to support the church, and their proceeds are contributed to us by the organizers," Smetana said. The church has already spent 3.7 million crowns on construction and will spend two million more to complete it. In total, the church is expected to cost about 20 million crowns. The members were unable to secure a grant from the Ministry of Finance; however, the Pardubice Region contributed three million crowns, for example. "At the beginning of next year, we expect to receive 1.3 million crowns from the Wader Foundation," said church member Jana Macková. The church will also gain additional funds from the sale of a villa it owns in Litomyšl. The unfinished church stands by road I/35 towards Svitavy. It will be a modern glass structure embedded into a green slope. The main materials used are architectural concrete, wired glass, and fine mesh. According to Macková, the builders are currently addressing a special order to meet the architect's vision.
