Brno - The company Karlín development II plans to build the first 18 houses of a new district in Brno, which is to be created around the relocated train station. The city of Brno requests a guarantee that the construction will include public spaces with greenery, sidewalks, parking, and a rainwater management system. Space for a kindergarten is also to be created. The city council informed about this in a press release.

The new construction is planned between Opuštěná and Uhelná streets. "In the future, 18 buildings are expected to be erected here, which will be used for various purposes, such as housing, services, shops, and so on. The buildings will spatially create three urban blocks, each with two underground levels for parking and technical facilities. Regarding the concept of land development, the proposal is compliant," said Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL).

The roofs of all buildings are designed to be flat with greenery, and there will be more than 900 parking spaces underground, with trees planted along all streets.

"In its statement, the city demands a contractual guarantee for the construction of public spaces with sidewalks, parking, and greenery, sewage, water supply, and a rainwater management system. A space for a kindergarten will also be created in the area. The aforementioned will be transferred to the ownership and management of the city after the completion of the construction," stated councilor for land use planning and development Filip Chvátal.

If the developer signs a contract with the city that guarantees the fulfillment of the city's requirements, Brno will have no further objections to the construction.

The southern center is currently mainly an unkempt space bordered by busy roads and railway tracks. Its development is to continue with the relocation of Brno's main train station to the area of today's lower station.
