Jablonec nad Nisou

Jablonec nad Nisou - Jablonec has completed the regeneration of the historical city center. The renovation of Dolní náměstí, St. Anne's Church, Soukenná and Dvorská streets cost a total of 65 million crowns, of which three quarters were covered by the European Union. The remaining quarter was shared equally by the city and the state. This was stated today by Deputy Mayor Petr Karásek.

"Working in a small space was complicated. It was difficult to coordinate the construction activities," he noted. According to him, a total of ten buildings have been repaired or their renovation is being completed in the city center, with a significant contribution from the union. These include Pavilion A, the amphitheater, and the street between the Glass and Costume Jewelry Museum and the new Center for Business Cooperation.
Besides the historical and heritage buildings, Jablonec must invest another approximately 100 million crowns by the end of the year, of which 45 million percent will come from state subsidies.
The city wants to complete a sports complex with artificial turf in Mšena. The playground, costing 17.5 million, is intended mainly for children's and youth football teams. Another investment will benefit athletes - it is the reconstruction of the athletics hall at Střelnice, which is expected to be completed by May 2007. "The last construction project is the development of new engineering networks and transport infrastructure around the Fruit Market," Karásek concluded.
