Jablonec nad Nisou - Jablonec nad Nisou has prepared investments this year amounting to a record 351 million crowns. CTK was informed about this today by Deputy Mayor Miloš Vele (ODS). The largest project is the construction of a new intensive care pavilion at the municipal hospital for 150 million crowns, as well as the reconstruction of the roof and further modifications of the swimming pool for 40 million. The bridge on Lidická Street is also expected to be reconstructed this year, and work on the restoration of the town hall continues.
This year, the priority is the construction of a new hospital pavilion, which will be ceremonially launched next week and is expected to start serving within two years. The hospital urgently needs the new pavilion, as the current capacity of intensive care beds is insufficient. "Their number will increase from eight to 12. At the same time, both personnel and technical redundancy between the intensive care beds and the anesthesiology-resuscitation department will be strengthened," said director Vít Němeček to CTK. According to him, the construction of the pavilion will allow for the reconstruction and expansion of other facilities.
Work has also begun on preparing the reconstruction of the roof of the swimming pool, with the main repairs planned for the summer during the pool's closure. The project, costing about 40 million crowns, also includes glazing and roofing of the outdoor terrace. "According to the designer, the internal temperature on the benches could increase by up to 20 degrees in winter; currently, the temperatures just above the glass are only slightly above zero when it is freezing outside," said Milan Matura, managing director of the municipal company Sport Jablonec, which operates the pool.
The city wants to start the second phase of the reconstruction of the dilapidated bridge on Lidická Street this summer, with a budget of 13 million crowns. The construction is prepared, and the first phase took place in 2014. "Since the bridge is in a built-up area, we need to have contracts with the owners of the affected properties regarding cooperation and the right to carry out the construction. Negotiations are still ongoing, but I believe that both the property owners and the councilors will approve the contracts so we can start construction at the beginning of summer," noted Vele.
About 17 million crowns will go this year to the ongoing reconstruction of the town hall building. A significant example of interwar architecture, it was built between 1931 and 1933 according to the design of architect Karel Winter. The town has been gradually restoring the building to its original form for several years. This year, the restoration of the facade continues, but intensive work is also underway inside the town hall. The council chamber, where work is already taking place, is expected to return to its original form this year.
