Hradec Králové - The canoeing boathouse on the banks of the Orlice River in Hradec Králové will be built by the Hradec construction company Redomo for 19.9 million Czech crowns excluding VAT. The approval of the company as the winner of the tender was given today by the city councilors. 25 councilors voted for Redomo, one abstained, and no one was against. The new facility will replace the inadequate boathouse from the 1920s, which is located on the right bank of the Orlice River behind the sports complex of TJ Slavia. The current boathouse belongs to the city and is used by the canoeing section of TJ Sokol Hradec Králové and some high schools. The new boathouse will consist of a two-story building that will be divided into the boathouse facilities and a boat storage area. It will be a steel structure covered with wooden cladding.
Prior to the competition, in which seven candidates applied, the city estimated the cost at 22 million crowns excluding VAT. Five candidates fell within the city’s estimated price during the competition.
The city plans to obtain a subsidy from the National Sports Agency (NSA) for the construction, which could cover about two-thirds of the expenses. The city submitted its application for the subsidy last September, and the NSA is currently reviewing it.
