Karlovy Vary - The Karlovy Vary Region is searching for a contractor for the second time to complete the facilities for the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra at the Emperor's Baths. No one applied in the first tender. However, the completion of the facilities is a condition for the orchestra's permanent relocation to a new venue. If a contractor is selected, the spaces could be ready by late spring or early summer, said regional governor Petr Kulhánek (for STAN) to the Czech News Agency.
"The spaces being completed are on the second and third floors of the building. They are facilities for the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra and the administration of the Emperor's Baths. This space is currently completed to a so-called Shell and Core format, which means there are no final plaster finishes or electrical installations, which have now been specified based on the Symphony Orchestra's requirements and incorporated into the public procurement, which is capped at 20 million crowns," Kulhánek stated. As he emphasized, these are not additional funds, but these expenses were accounted for in the overall budget for the reconstruction of the national cultural monument.
The completion of spaces for the symphony musicians, soundproofing of the built-in concert hall, and furnishings are the last three contracts that the Karlovy Vary Region, as the owner, anticipates in connection with the reconstruction of the Emperor's Baths. For the final part of the hall's acoustic equipment, the region will spend about seven million crowns, and for the furnishings, they are planning 33 million crowns.
The reconstruction of the Emperor's Baths lasted two and a half years and cost 1.4 billion crowns including VAT. The national cultural monument transformed from a spa facility into a social and cultural center. During this year, a museum exhibition dedicated to the history of spa treatments is to be completed.
