Kladno - Kladno has selected a company for the second time to repair the municipal theater building. The reconstruction will be carried out by CGM Czech, which offered the lowest price of 91 million crowns. If the unsuccessful companies do not appeal the results of the tender, the work could start in a month. This was announced to reporters today by the mayor's deputy Miroslav Bernášek (ODS). The work is expected to take about one year.

The repairs to the theater were originally supposed to start two years ago. However, regional officials first returned the application for European funding to the city for revision. As a result, the reconstruction was postponed to last year. The city had to cancel the first tender for repairs due to a police investigation, announce a new tender, and thus the work will only begin this year. The delay in repairs has caused a number of problems for the theater troupe, which has been performing in temporary accommodation for the second consecutive season.
The winning company was selected by the city council during a meeting on Monday. According to Bernášek, seven companies applied for the competition, three of which submitted similarly low bids as the winner. "We believe that those companies have calculated well, that they are currently operating on minimal margins. They have little work, and there are really few contracts of this size," noted Bernášek.
According to Bernášek, the winning company previously carried out the renovation of the Meta apartment building for the disabled for several tens of millions of crowns. The city has secured European funding for the theater repairs amounting to up to 135 million CZK. Because the price will be lower than expected, Kladno will be able to use the remaining money for other investments, according to Bernášek.
The reconstruction of the municipal theater, directed by architect David Vávra, will include a complete modernization of the building, an extension with a café featuring a multifunctional hall, and an alternative stage. The building will be equipped with modern technologies, primarily air conditioning, a building management system, a security system, new engineering networks, and, most importantly, modern theater technology. The stage and auditorium will undergo significant transformations. The theater is expected to meet today's standards for comfort requirements for both the audience and the actors.
