Kroměříž - The three-story building in the area of the former Žižka barracks will be sold by the Kroměříž city hall to the company Warona CZ. The real estate company acquired the property for more than 25 million Czech crowns at Thursday's meeting of the Kroměříž city council. The building, which was originally intended to serve university needs, is likely to become a multipurpose facility. This was reported by Pavel Zrna, spokesperson for the Kroměříž city hall. A total of eight interested parties vied for the purchase of the building. The city hall offered it for sale through an English auction with a starting price of ten million crowns. The last of the unsuccessful bidders, the company PNS Reality, did not accept the amount exceeding 25 million crowns. Therefore, Warona acquired the building for the price of 25,010,000 crowns. The property will become its ownership as long as the city hall receives the payment by the end of this May. "We are pleased that the price rose so high, the city hall intends to use the money for the reconstruction of Hanácké náměstí," said Zrna. According to the adopted urban plan of the city, the building should be transformed into a multifunctional facility designated for services, commerce, or housing. A condition for the sale of the building is a commitment from the buyer that no later than two years from the date of sale, they will apply for a building permit for the reconstruction of the property, and they will actually start the reconstruction within three years. The city hall originally intended to retain the building from the former barracks in its ownership and offer it to universities as a site for one of the faculties. However, negotiations with the Tomas Bata University in Zlín (UTB) ended unsuccessfully, as the institution was unable to secure funding for new acquisitions in the Kroměříž region. Kroměříž acquired extensive military property at the beginning of 2005. This primarily involved the Rybalková and Žižka barracks. The city retained part of the land and buildings while selling the rest to private investors. In the area of the former barracks in Žižka, family houses are being built, and a hypermarket has been constructed in the area of Rybalková barracks. The city hall retained, among other things, the former Army Garrison House on Velehradská Street, which now houses two music schools and several non-profit organizations.
