Kyjov (Hodonín Region) - Kyjov in the Hodonín region has completely reconstructed a funeral hall for nearly 26 million crowns, which was in a state of disrepair. The work also included the repair of cemetery walls and gates. A new columbarium for urns with ashes and a security system connected to the police were created, said the Deputy Mayor of Kyjov, Antonín Kuchař (Seven Independent). The costs were covered by the city from its own budget. The city has been repairing the funeral hall since last October. "The building was created sometime in the seventies of the last century and really needed renovation. The structures were in a state of disrepair, we were dealing with problems with the windows and other technical issues," Kuchař stated. Therefore, the city council decided to undertake a comprehensive reconstruction, leaving only the outer shell intact. The funeral hall consists of three completely renovated parts: the ceremonial hall, technical facilities, and the administration area for the hall and cemetery, including an office and sanitary facilities. "The technical infrastructure is new, such as water, gas, electricity, optical cable connections, and the sewage connection. We also renovated part of the collapsed sewage system," informed Vanda Vykydalová from the Kyjov municipal office. The hall is newly equipped with air conditioning, and an internal security system has been established that is connected to the municipal police and a camera system. Besides the walls and entrance gates, the sidewalk behind the hall and a retaining wall by the parking lot have also been repaired. Soon, the city will offer citizens a new service in the form of columbariums for storing urns with ashes. "We are currently finishing the columbariums and we want them to be ready by September. We have not offered such a service before. Now we have built over a hundred places," Kuchař added.
