People in Nový Jičín can compete in recognizing historical buildings

NEW JIČÍN - People in New Jičín can compete in recognizing architecturally interesting buildings in the city. In the competition "Lift Your Eyes," organized by the town hall in cooperation with the Club of Natives and Friends of New Jičín, they will identify photographs of the facades of remarkable houses in the city published in the city newsletter, said city hall spokesperson Iva Vašendová to ČTK.
"The aim of the competition is to draw attention to interesting artistic and architectural elements in the facades of historical buildings. We want to encourage citizens to occasionally gaze at the houses they usually pass by," explained Deputy Mayor Pavel Wessely. The council also wants to highlight the renovations that many facades have undergone in recent years.
In each issue of the New Jičín newsletter, the organizers will publish photographs capturing interesting sections of the facades of two houses. "One photo will always be simpler, usually from a house in the city center, while the other will showcase houses from other parts of New Jičín," said the Deputy Mayor.
People should bring their answers or send them to the town hall, and they may also use email. From the correct answers, the competition organizers will draw two winners every month, who will be rewarded with books and promotional materials by the city. The answers, supplemented with interesting stories about the featured houses, will be published by the newsletter creators in the next issue.
