Litomyšl - In Litomyšl, the repair of the Loučná River waterfront is being prepared. The first step in the project preparation is a survey to determine what type of waterfront the residents of the town would most welcome. The results will be part of an architectural competition for the transformation of the waterfront. Mayor Michal Kortyš (ODS) said this at a press conference today. The competition will take place this autumn and will be announced at the beginning of next year. A winning proposal will emerge from it, from which the project documentation will be developed, Kortyš stated. The project is to be financed by a grant from the private foundation Proměny in the amount of up to 25 million crowns, with the city contributing five million to the waterfront redevelopment. The newly renovated waterfront is expected to open in 2016. The Proměny foundation is collaborating with the city on the project preparation, organizing the architectural competition, and assisting in the procurement process for the construction contractor. If the city meets the specified conditions, it may receive financial support from the foundation for maintenance of the waterfront for three years after its completion. The survey aims to find out from people what they feel is missing in the area, whether the residents visit the place, and if they have any specific requests for the transformation of the area. The city will inform about all planned activities in the city newsletter. The area is to become a recreational space for spending leisure time. The location is defined by the inn Za vodou and the bridge near Smetanův dům. It connects to the ground floor area, which has already been modified by architect Josef Pleskot, and will extend the existing promenade.
