Litomyšl (Svitavsko) - The banks of the Loučná River in Litomyšl, known as the Water Mounds area, will undergo extensive renovations. The city has received a grant of 25 million crowns from the Proměny foundation, and another approximately five million will be covered from its budget. The project is expected to be completed in about five years, Mayor Michal Kortyš (ODS) told reporters today.
"By the end of this year, a selection procedure for an architect should be held, who will present their proposal; in 2014, the project will be developed, and a year later, a selection procedure for the contractor will take place. The implementation is planned for 2016," stated Kortyš.
The area is bounded by the inn Za vodou and the bridge near Smetanova House. It connects to the promenade that has already been redesigned by architect Josef Pleskot, thereby extending the existing promenade. "The river is constrained in this location; we only notice it during floods. We want to open it up a bit to the public," said Kortyš. The area will be cultivated, greenery will be added, and playgrounds will be restored and expanded.
The city will inform the public about its plans through several presentations, with three such meetings scheduled for next year.
