Znojmo - This year, Znojmo will replace another 36 windows in the Louka Monastery. This will be the fifth phase, which includes the replacement of 36 windows for 3.2 million crowns on the eastern side of the baroque convent. Workers will begin the repairs in the coming days. Again, these will be faithful replicas of the original windows, their design has been approved by heritage officials, said the city's spokesperson Zuzana Pastrňáková in a press release today.

Boxed windows made of larch wood will be fitted. They will include interior sills, while the exterior will be done with stucco together with the future renovation of the facade.

In addition to the window replacement, grilles on the windows of the second floor will be dismantled. As in previous years, the city will apply for financial support from the Ministry of Culture's architectural heritage rescue program.

The replacement of windows in the monastery began in 2016. The city has already paid 9.7 million, of which 2.7 million was obtained from grants. So far, there are 116 new or refurbished windows. The previous phase included not only the installation of new wooden windows but also the refurbishment of nine original metal windows. The new convent has a total of 450 windows.

The monastery complex has been a national cultural monument since 2017 and is one of the landmarks of Znojmo. The city has owned it since 2010 and is gradually restoring it.
