Mělník – The Mělník pseudogothic villa of Karola will serve the art school in about a year. In the coming weeks, a selected company will begin its renovation for approximately nine million crowns, while the city is currently waiting for the legal deadlines after the end of the tender to expire, said Mělník Deputy Mayor Milan Schweigstill (for STAN) to ČTK.

After the city library moved out of the villa last year, the heritage-protected building is empty. The main rooms will be preserved as part of the renovations. A ceramics workshop, a music hall, a studio with a gallery, and several classrooms will be created here.

The villa was built in the 19th century by district secretary František Vinkler according to the design of architect Alois Filčík. It is named after the secretary's wife, Karolina. It consists of two houses, No. 40 and 41, which stand in the historic core of the town.
