Mělník – Mělník is preparing to renovate the pseudo-Gothic villa Karola, which is intended to serve an art school. The building is currently used by a library, which is set to move to new premises at Karl IV Square in September. The city already has a completed project for the renovation of the villa and has applied for a building permit. The start of the work will depend on the shape of the city's budget, said Mělník's deputy mayor Milan Schweigstill (for STAN).
"I can't even estimate at this moment whether we will be able to start this renovation at least next year from our own resources," he stated. According to him, grants for this type of project have not yet been announced, but having a issued building permit may increase the chance of obtaining a grant.
After the complete renovation, the basic art school should have not only classrooms but also a chamber hall for approximately 80 people and an art studio on the upper floor.
